About Our Lodge
Brotherhood, Charity, and Truth, Since December 2025
About Lights of the East Lodge No. 33
Lights of the East Lodge No. 33 is a duly constituted Masonic Lodge devoted to the timeless principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.
Founded in December 2025, the Lodge stands as a modern working body rooted in ancient tradition—where men of good character come together to build themselves, strengthen one another, and serve the community.
Our Lodge is not merely a meeting place, but a living institution of growth—where knowledge is pursued, discipline is practiced, and wisdom is shared from one generation to the next.
We are committed to:
- The cultivation of moral and spiritual development
- The strengthening of brotherhood through unity and accountability
- The service of our community through charitable works and outreach
- The preservation and proper execution of Masonic teachings and traditions
At Lights of the East, we believe that true light is not given—it is sought, earned, and lived. Each Brother is both a student and a builder, working daily to refine himself as a better man, father, leader, and servant to humanity.
Our Lodge operates under the authority and jurisdiction of the Most Worshipful Jedediah Sovereign Grand Lodge, A.F. & A.M., and upholds the standards, discipline, and order expected of a regular and working Masonic body.
We welcome all men who seek light, truth, and purpose—those willing to labor not only in the Lodge, but within themselves.
Our History
A Legacy of Brotherhood Spanning Generations
Our Founding
Long before there were Lodges, there were laborers.
Before titles, before charters, before the formal gathering of men under name and number—there were those who stood in the quarries, shaping stone beneath the open sky. These were not merely builders of structures, but students of order, balance, and proportion. With each strike of the working tools, they came to understand a deeper truth: that the stone before them was not unlike the man within them—rough, unrefined, yet full of potential.
From those early hands emerged more than temples of stone. There arose a tradition—quiet, deliberate, and enduring—passed not only through words, but through example, discipline, and observation.
It is said that all true knowledge comes from the East—not merely as a direction, but as a principle. The East is the place of light, of rising, of beginning. It represents the moment when darkness gives way to understanding. In every age, there have been those who turned themselves toward that light, seeking not comfort, but truth.
Across generations, this pursuit has taken many forms. It has been spoken through the wisdom of builders, the reflections of philosophers, and the allegories of sacred texts. Whether one considers the master craftsman who designed with divine proportion, the seeker who asked for wisdom above riches, or the teacher who spoke in parables so that only those prepared might understand—the thread remains the same:
Light must be sought.
Lights of the East Lodge No. 33 stands not as the beginning of that tradition, but as its continuation.
We are brothers who have inherited a system of knowledge refined over centuries—preserved not in monuments alone, but in the hearts and minds of those willing to receive it. What was once etched in stone is now carried through instruction, ritual, and daily practice. The quarry has changed form, but the work remains.
Today, the labor is inward.
Each Brother enters as a rough ashlar, bringing with him his own experiences, imperfections, and potential. Through study, discipline, and the guidance of those who came before, he begins the same work undertaken thousands of years ago—to shape, to refine, and to align himself with principles that do not change.
Knowledge is the foundation.
Not knowledge for the sake of accumulation, but knowledge that transforms. Knowledge that teaches a man how to stand upright, how to act justly, and how to build not only his own life, but something that will outlast him.
This is the inheritance of Lights of the East.
We do not claim to be the origin of the light—but we are committed to carrying it forward. As those before us labored in the quarries, so do we labor now—each in our own way—ensuring that what has been handed down is not lost, but strengthened, clarified, and passed on to those yet to come.
For in every age, the work continues.
And in every age, there must be men willing to do it.
Our Mission & Vision
Our Purpose and Direction in Brotherhood
Our Mission
The mission of Lights of the East Lodge No. 33 is to build men of character, discipline, and understanding through the study and application of timeless Masonic principles.
We are committed to:
- Cultivating knowledge as the foundation of personal and collective growth
- Strengthening brotherhood through unity, accountability, and mutual support
- Encouraging self-mastery, where each man labors to refine his thoughts, actions, and purpose
- Serving our community through charitable works, leadership, and example
- Preserving and practicing the ancient traditions and teachings entrusted to us
Our mission is not only to gather—but to transform.
Each Brother is called to take what is learned within the Lodge and apply it outwardly, becoming a living reflection of the principles we uphold.
Our Vision
Our vision is to be a light in the East—a Lodge where knowledge is pursued with intention, where men are sharpened through discipline, and where the standard of Freemasonry is upheld in both word and action.
We envision:
- A Lodge that produces leaders, teachers, and builders in every area of life
- A brotherhood rooted in order, structure, and respect for the Craft
- A culture where growth is expected, not optional
- A legacy that extends beyond the present, impacting future generations through knowledge properly passed down
We seek to establish a body of men who understand that the work is never finished—only continued—and who are committed to carrying the light forward with clarity, strength, and purpose.
What is Freemasonry?
Understanding the Ancient Fraternal Order
Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest fraternal organizations, dedicated to the development of good men into better men through the principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.
It is not a religion, nor does it replace one. Instead, it is a system of moral instruction that uses symbolism, allegory, and tradition to teach timeless lessons about character, responsibility, and the pursuit of truth.
At its core, Freemasonry is about building—not with stone, but with intention.
In its simplest form:
- A man joins seeking growth
- He is taught through symbols and lessons
- He is expected to apply those lessons in his life
- He becomes part of a brotherhood that supports and sharpens him
Freemasonry does not give a man anything he has not earned—it gives him the tools to build himself.
The Work of a Mason
Freemasonry teaches that every man is like a rough stone—imperfect, yet capable of refinement.
Through instruction, discipline, and reflection, a Mason labors to:
- Improve his character
- Strengthen his mind
- Align his actions with principle and truth
The goal is not perfection, but progress—a continual effort to become better than one was before.
The Language of Symbolism
Freemasonry speaks in symbols.
Tools once used by operative builders—such as the square, compass, and level—are used to teach deeper truths:
- To act with integrity and fairness
- To keep one’s desires within proper bounds
- To walk uprightly and deal justly with others
These symbols are not meant to be taken at face value, but to be studied, reflected upon, and lived.
What Freemasonry is Not
To understand what Freemasonry is, it is equally important to understand what it is not:
- It is not a religion, but it does require a belief in a Higher Power
- It is not a secret society, but a society with private traditions and modes of recognition
- It is not a place of entitlement, but a place of responsibility and growth
- It is not for everyone—only for those willing to work on themselves
Why It Endures
Freemasonry has endured for centuries because it speaks to something timeless within man:
The desire to understand, to improve, and to belong to something greater than himself.
While the world changes, the work remains the same.
Our Place Within It
At Lights of the East Lodge No. 33, we uphold these principles with intention and structure. We view Freemasonry not as a title to hold, but as a discipline to practice.
Here, the teachings are not only presented—they are expected to be lived.

- Believe in a Supreme Being
- Come of his own free will and accord
- Be able to meet the time, mental, and moral commitments required

The Process
Becoming a Mason is a process—not an event.
1. Inquiry
A man expresses interest by reaching out to the Lodge.
2. Conversation
He meets with members of the Lodge to ensure alignment in values and expectations.
3. Petition
If both the Lodge and the man find the fit appropriate, a formal petition is submitted.
4. Investigation
A committee meets with the petitioner to understand his character, intentions, and readiness.
5. Ballot
The Lodge votes. Admission must be unanimous, reflecting the importance of harmony.
6. Initiation
If accepted, the petitioner begins his journey through the degrees of Freemasonry.
What Is Expected
Lodge Membership Expectations
Membership requires more than attendance.
Each Brother is expected to:
- Participate actively in Lodge meetings and functions
- Study and apply the teachings of the Craft
- Uphold the standards and reputation of the Lodge
- Contribute to the growth and unity of the brotherhood
- Continue the work of self-improvement daily
What You Will Gain
The True Rewards of Masonry
Freemasonry does not promise wealth, status, or advantage.
What it offers is far greater:
- A brotherhood that holds you accountable and supports your growth
- A system of knowledge and wisdom refined over generations
- The opportunity to become a better man—by your own work
